Founded in New York City in 1904, The Explorers Club is dedicated to the pursuit of far-flung scientific field research. Its members were first to the North Pole, the South Pole, the summit of Mount Everest, the deepest point in the ocean, and the surface of the moon. The Club’s East 70th Street headquarters hums with tales of adventure, past and present — and its wood-paneled walls can scarcely contain all the exotic taxidermy on view. Lectures are often open to the public, so consult the Club’s events schedule to plot a glimpse inside.
