Woburn, MA - October 01, 2007 - Demandware (www.demandware.com), developer of the breakthrough On-Demand eCommerce Platform, today announced its customers Playboy Enterprises and Bare Escentuals are two of 12 retail industry leaders who are receiving Fusion Awards for their success in transforming their businesses with technology advancements. Playboy was honored as a leading multichannel retailer for its shopthebunny.com site launch and the re-launch of playboystore.com on the Demandware eCommerce platform, and Bare Escentuals was recognized for its successful cross-channel integration.
Playboy and Bare Escentuals are joined by an impressive roster of retailers receiving Fusion Awards including Best Buy, JCPenney and Borders, among others. Playboy and Bare Escentuals will receive RIS News Fusion Awards during a ceremony to be held at the RIS Cross-Channel Summit, September 30–October 2, 2007 at the Four Seasons Troon North in Scottsdale, Arizona.
"Playboy and Bare Escentuals are industry leaders transforming their business through comprehensive and innovative cross-channel strategies," said Stephan Schambach, chairman and founder, Demandware. "Demandware is proud to help them — and all customers — expand their eCommerce businesses."
Playboy launches into increased sales
To win the RIS Fusion award, Playboy demonstrated excellence in recent site launches with Demandware. Playboy eCommerce successfully launched www.shopthebunny.com, an apparel business targeting a female demographic, and the company also re-launched its flagship business, www.playboystore.com, on the Demandware platform. Following these implementations, average order value (AOV) increased eight percent and customer conversion increased two percent.
Bare Escentuals demonstrates multichannel magic
Bare Escentuals was honored by RIS for its ability to successfully move customers from one channel to another with consistent brand messaging. To aid in that effort, the company recently re-launched its bareMinerals.com and BareEscentuals.com sites using the Demandware e-Commerce Platform. Designed to provide an improved shopping experience, the sites offer a number of enhanced online merchandising features including more efficient online ordering and checkout, as well as a focus on upselling items.
In a recent seminar covering online merchandising best practices, Sarah Veit, director of Web marketing for Bare Escentuals commented, "Our overriding principle is to do what’s right for the customer. We really focused on conversion. We wanted to address the customer’s goals – what she wants to accomplish when she comes to our site."
The sites were designed to recreate the personalized service customers receive when they purchase Bare Escentuals products in boutiques and upscale department stores such as Nordstrom, Sephora and Ulta.
